Caperbush Seeds to Grow (Caperbush)

Key Features

• Grow your own edible capers: Caperbush (Capparis spinosa) produces the unopened flower buds used to make traditional capers found in Mediterranean recipes. As plants mature, they develop increasing numbers of harvestable buds while also producing beautiful ornamental flowers that enhance edible gardens and landscapes.
• Beautiful ornamental perennial: Large white flowers with long, showy purple stamens bloom throughout the warm season, creating an eye-catching display against rounded blue-green foliage. Mature plants typically spread 3 to 6 feet wide while remaining relatively low growing, making them excellent for borders, slopes, retaining walls, and rock gardens.
• Thrives in hot, dry climates: Naturally adapted to Mediterranean conditions, Caperbush performs best in full sun with well-drained soils. Once established, its extensive root system provides outstanding drought tolerance, making it an excellent choice for xeriscaping and water-wise landscapes.
• Excellent for edible landscapes: Combines ornamental beauty with culinary value by producing edible flower buds alongside attractive foliage and flowers. A unique addition to herb gardens, kitchen gardens, Mediterranean landscapes, and collectors' gardens.
• Supports beneficial pollinators: Nectar-rich flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects throughout the blooming season, helping improve biodiversity while supporting productive gardens.
